Zoologists in New York confirm Flaco the owl's death.

Zoologists have determined the reason for Flaco's passing, the much-loved Eurasian eagle-owl that was a resident of New York City and had fled from the Central Park Zoo in February of last year.

When Flaco was purportedly involved in a collision with a skyscraper in Manhattan on Friday evening, officials at the zoo reported that he had passed away.

According to a statement released by the Central Park Zoo, the preliminary findings from a necropsy that was carried out by experts from the Bronx Zoo are consistent with his death being the result of an acute traumatic injury.

They discovered significant bleeding under the sternum as well as in the back of the body cavity around the liver, which indicates that the primary impact appears to have been on the body of the owl, which was 13 years old.

The only other sign of head trauma that was discovered was a small bit of bleeding behind the left eye, but other than that, there was no further indication of this.

During the necropsy, there were no bone fractures discovered, and his body was assessed to be in good health at the time of his death

He had appropriate fat storage and good muscle mass. Just one year ago, a vandal snuck into the Central Park Zoo while it was dark and cut a hole in Flaco's steel mesh cage.

Since then, Flaco has become a local celebrity in New York City, and he has been able to escape from the zoo.
