See How We Made This Minimalist Nail Art in 30 Seconds

Out of the way: I strongly disliked nail art in early 2015. I was and am a minimalist, and nail art was the opposite.

When glitter-and-striped patterns ruled, I didn't want any part of it. After visiting Valley Nails in New York City (thanks to Misleidys),

I got a white-with-gold-striping-oh-my-god-who-am-I nail art. After trying marble nails,

a reverse French manicure, and now @ladyfancynails' linear nail-art design, I've come a long way.

Midori, who does architectural, simple nail art (but doesn't mind color, unlike me), stopped by Allure HQ to make a DIY video of a design she spontaneously created.

Midori draws inspiration from Chromat, Richi Mnsi, Omndi, Geneva L. White, and Sasha Katz. As any good nail artist, she started with a reference point and a steady hand to draw this linear design freehand.

"A helpful tip is to stabilize your hand by propping it on the table or a flat surface," adds.

"This allows for more control over your movements." Midori styled the look with Essie's Birthday Suit and Urban Outfitters' White:
