Having spent the last year in Japan with the Kubota Spears, the two-time British and Irish Lion returns to the Men in Black for his second stay till the conclusion of the season.
With 91 caps for Wales since his 2012 international debut, Williams will be quite flexible over the whole back-three.
Beginning his career at Scarlets, he became well-known very fast; three years after his Llanelli debut, he won Wales’ Player of the Year Award.
Williams moved to Saracens in 2017, and he had a great 2019–20 season helping the squad to clinch the Champions Cup and Premiership double.
The 33-year-old will want to have a significant influence upon his return to NW4 and brings a great abundance of experience to the side.
In all honesty, the previous several weeks have been a whirl for me. After the World Cup, my pregnant wife and I recently had to make the tough choice not to go back to Kubota Spears for a second season, a team that kindly welcomed me twelve months ago.
Due to squad injuries, one of the Sarries management called my agency to find out whether I would be interested in completing the season with them. It not took long to answer yes!
My last visit to the club was much liked. It was a unique period in my career as well as the club won several titles; the particular ethos of the team stayed with me.
Following the birth of my first kid, joining the squad, and supporting them in reaching their goals excites me.
It gives Saracens Director of Rugby Mark McCall great pleasure to have Williams back at StoneX Stadium.
“Liam’s initial spell at Saracens had an amazing effect on our group on and off the field. Having been at the top of his game for well over ten years, he is a world class athlete.
We could not wait to see Liam back in the Saracens uniform; the chance to bring him back to the club was a no brainer for us.
